Easy to use, yet
powerful external Genlock/Overlay Adaptor, with unique 'Soft-keyer'
for professional results, and controllable from compatible PC video
editing software.
The new VineGen
range simply plugs into the VGA output of your PC or Macintosh and gives
you a video compatible output, for viewing computer graphics on a standard
television, or even for recording on to videotape. With the press of
a button on the remote control, your computer images can be superimposed
on to live or pre-recorded video images.
There are two units
in the VineGen range - the VineGen 2 and the VineGen Pro - both giving
you Composite Video, S-Video and RGB outputs whilst maintaining simultaneous
display on your computer monitor. For overlay, just connect your video
source, via a Composite Video or S-Video lead.
The overlay works
on a luminance (brightness) basis, where dark colours are 'keyed out'.
So when carrying out an overlay anything on your computer screen that
is below a certain brightness (eg. black) will appear transparent (showing
your 'background' video image), and anything brighter (ie. most other
colours) will appear on top of your video image.
Both units incorporate
Vine's 'soft-keying' method. This gives text and graphic edges a soft
appearance, greatly reducing the flicker and colour disturbance normally
seen on other units. This also means that both units are fully compatible
with 'anti-aliased' fonts, which can give almost broadcast-quality results!
Also unusual for
units of this price level, both models include full fading abilities
- to fade out titles and graphics into the video background.

Of the two VineGen
units, the VineGen 2 will provide quality results up to 800x600 resolution,
whilst the VineGen Pro produces a higher quality output and will work
with resolutions up to 1600x1200. The Pro version has all the functionality
and features of the VineGen 2 as well as 2x zoom and pan, YUV output
(computer image only), and an external cross fader (for manual fading).
The VineGen range
is the ideal accessory for enhancing home videos and video presentations
- enabling you to incorporate the creative power of your computer into
a standard video. And when used with compatible video editing software,
titles can be produced automatically with professional-looking fades.
